The College
of Business Administration (CBA) Alumni Board has many opportunities of to
volunteer throughout the academic year. Along with the volunteer
opportunities are two main projects that the board concentrates on which are
the Letter-Writing Campaign and Professor for a Day.
The Letter-Writing Campaign is one of the universities many touches to prospective
students and is the second oldest alumni-sponsored event. The CBA Alumni
Board has a standard letter that they can use, but alumni from the board also
have the opportunity to write a more personal letter based on their experiences
while attending UA. After the letters are written and approved by the UA
Alumni Association, members of the board are asked to send the letters out on
their companies’ letterhead. Once the letters have been sent out the
board is asked to do a follow up call with the prospective students to answer
any questions from either the students or parents.
Professor for a Day is the longest running alumni-sponsored program on
campus. In the fall of 1985, the CBA Alumni Board recognized an
opportunity to bring real world experience directly into the classroom and how
it would benefit students. Members of the board with support of the
Alumni Association sent out information, on what was then B-Day, and received a
wonderful response from alumni representing over 20 area companies.
Professor for a Day was later used as part of the accreditation for the
college.
